Approach
Comprehensive energy management solutions are complex. They almost always require much more than just implementing a new piece of equipment or two. In this section, we describe some of NHI's proven consulting approaches and methodologies for defining the optimal energy management strategy and implementation roadmap.
Phases of an Energy Management Program. NHI's comprehensive energy management programs typically follow four distinct phases: Strategy; Solution Design and Development; Implementation; and Organizational Change Management. For large energy management initiatives, NHI prefers to break them down into smaller, more manageable projects. This disaggregation helps our clients because each of the smaller projects has its own workplan, project team, and list of specific outputs.
Project Approach. NHI approaches all its client assignments, large or small, with sound project methodologies and processes. Our consulting methodologies have been developed and refined through years of experience in the energy management field, and this experience translates into more efficient and effective project management and savings of time and money for our clients.
Energy Management Business Case. NHI specializes in creating comprehensive, enterprise-wide energy management solutions that reduce a company's expeditures on energy to become a sustainable competitive cost advantage. NHI develops compelling business cases, with attractive ROIs, for investments in energy saving technologies and processes.
Technology Recommendations. NHI uses a proven approach for developing its technology recommendations; the steps are: identifying the technology needs from a comprehensive current state assessment, defining "stretch" energy reduction targets based on the current state assessment and on energy usage benchmarks of similar facilities and/or processes, and identifying the technologies that can achieve the "stretch" targets.
Project Support Processes and Infrastructure. NHI excels in all aspects of program and project management, including planning and execution. NHI uses a leading-edge information technology infrastructure to support its energy management consulting assignments.
Getting Started. The process for getting started is straight forward and typically follows three simple steps.
